Electron-impact detachment of weakly bound negative ions: Threshold and scaling laws

چکیده

The details of a recent theoretical formulation of electron-impact detachment of weakly bound negative ions are presented. The formalism is applied at low energies to find the behavior of the cross section near threshold. Also, the applicability of a recently proposed scaling law is discussed. The formulation uses different coordinate systems for the initial and final states. The initial state is a simple product of wave functions of each electron, while the final state is a simple product of wave functions in center-of-mass coordinates. @S1050-2947~99!08908-8#

Electron Impact Detachment of Weakly Bound Negative Ions

A method is presented for accurately calculating the total electron impact detachment cross section for weakly bound negative ions. The results are compared to recent experiments for electron impact detachment of H and B. Cross sections differential in energy are presented which elucidate some of the dynamics of the detachment process. A scaling law for the cross section is proposed. [S0031-900...

Model-independent quantum approach for intense laser detachment of a weakly bound electron.

We present a model-independent theory for laser detachment of a weakly bound electron having a nonzero angular momentum. Our treatment reduces to the well-known Keldysh result for tunnel ionization upon neglecting rescattering effects. Numerical results for the above-threshold detachment spectrum of a negative ion having an outer p electron show significant modification of the rescattering plat...

Short versus long range interactions and the size of two-body weakly bound objects

Very weakly bound systems may manifest intriguing “universal” properties, independent of the specific interaction which keeps the system bound. An interesting example is given by relations between the size of the system and the separation energy, or scaling laws. So far, scaling laws have been investigated for short-range and long-range (repulsive) potentials. We report here on scaling laws for...

Coulomb trajectory effects on electron-impact detachment of negative ions and on mutual neutralization cross sections

Cross sections of electron-impact detachment of negative ions and of mutual neutralization between positive and negative ions are calculated using a model based on the semiclassical theory for ion–atom collisions but modified to include Coulomb trajectory effects. It is shown that the method allows us to obtain accurate results for collisions down to low energies. The Coulomb repulsion between ...

ec 1 99 7 Electron detachment from negative ions in bichromatic laser field

Negative ion detachment in two-colour laser field is considered within the recent modification of Keldysh model which makes it quantitatively reliable. The general approach is illustrated by calculation of angular differential detachment rates, partial rates for particular ATD (Above Threshold Detachment) channels and total detachment rates for H − ion in bichromatic field with 1:2 frequency ra...
